Sample list, invented companies

Tell it once. That’s the setup.

List the titles you’re after, where you want to work, the companies you’d rather skip, and any words you never want to see in a job title. Fresh roles arrive twice a day.

Everything you apply to stays tracked, so you can see where you actually stand, and ditch your spreadsheet tracker.

I built Shortlist for my own job search. Now I’m opening it to friends, a few at a time. Kevin Middleton

Request an invite

Invites go out by hand and there aren’t many, so this isn’t instant. The more you tell me, the better your first list will be.

What you do optional Any field. Titles are fine, so is a sentence.

Where you want to work optional

Tell us what's wrong

This goes straight to Kevin. Be as blunt as you like. Hearing about wrong roles is the most useful thing.

Invite someone

They get an email invite. Their board starts empty and is theirs alone.

Name

Welcome. Let's set up your job search.

Answer these and I've got a shortlist for you twice a day. You can change all of it later.

Start with your resume optional

Upload it and Shortlist suggests your titles for you. It's used only to tune your filters, it's never shared, and it's deleted with your account.

Anything else that helps optional

Other resumes, cover letters, a note about what you're actually after. Shortlist reads these for context. They live in your Profile, and you can add or remove them any time. Up to 5.

Titles you want required

Broad is better than narrow. A title you leave out is a role you won't see.

Words to keep out of titles optional

Any role with one of these in its title stays out of your queue. Whole words only, so “intern” won’t hide “International.”

Where you'll work required

Remote onlyI'm not commuting. Hybrid is fineA few days a week, in a metro above. In officeI want to be on site.

What you're actually after optional

Optional. This is the step that tunes your list to you.

What are you hoping to find?

What are you leaving behind?

What would make you say yes on the spot?

Pay floor and digest

Minimum base salary Roles that don't list pay are still included.

Companies to skip

Your current employer is the usual one. You can change this any time.

Nothing runs until you save. Saving starts your first search right away, then it runs twice a day and emails you at the times above.

Stuck or unsure about something? Tell Kevin. It goes straight to him.

Companies you've blocked

Roles from these never reach your queue. Unblock one and it comes back on the next scan. Staffing firms and job-board reposters are filtered out for everyone, so you don't have to list them.

What you're looking for

This is what the scan matches against. Change it whenever your search changes. It takes effect on the next scan.

Queue not right, or something confusing? Tell Kevin. It goes straight to him.

Your documents

Keep every version here: other resumes, cover letters, notes on what you're after. Whichever resume is marked in use gets recorded against each role you mark applied, so months from now you can see what you sent without guessing. Switch it when you rewrite; past applications keep the version they were sent with. Everything else here is just stored for you. It doesn't affect what the scan brings you.
